As the fall season sets in, the cross country team is lacing up for what promises to be an exciting and competitive year. With a mix of experienced runners and fresh talent, the team is made to make strides in upcoming meets. Guided by dedicated Head Coach Bell and assistant Coach Burgess are driven by months of rigorous training, these athletes are ready to tackle the challenges ahead. As they face tough courses and fierce competition, their determination and team spirit will be key in pushing toward personal bests and team victories.
This season, the team especially had 3 talented runners who could go all the way. Senior racer Aly Stepp just started her first year in running cross country and she’s already flying. Her dedication to this sport shows in her times throughout the season, running 18:41 at Section Champs. She’s a qualifier of MAC Championship and WPIAL Championships and if she runs how she is will secure a spot for the upcoming 2024 State Meet. Also, Senior athlete Tyler Guinapero has been killing it so far this season. Even though towards the beginning of the season he wasn’t running due to an injury he still is going strong. This will be his third year doing Cross Country and hopefully his best year. Tyler has been running in the 16:00s.Guinipero is on his way to placing high at WPIALs and 2024 States. Last but not least we have Junior Elise Ashcroft. Ashcroft has been a leading lady in Moon Cross Country since day one. This is her third year running for the Tigers and she has accomplished a lot over her time on the team. Ashcroft is a 2 time State runner and soon going to be a 3 time WPIAL runner. All these talented runners will do big for the Moon Area Cross Country team and in their future runner career ahead. We wish the Tigers good luck for any upcoming races.
