The 2026 Moon Area High School boys lacrosse team is entering the season determined to turn things around after falling short of the playoffs last year. With about 50% of last year’s starters graduating, the team is in a rebuilding phase, but players and coaches believe the group has the leadership and determination needed to have a positive season.
Leading the Tigers this year are team captains Brody Decker Ryder Zalin, and Zach Truzzi, who have taken on the responsibility of guiding a younger roster. The three captains have stepped up both on and off the field, helping set the tone at practices and encouraging teammates as new players take on bigger roles.
Along with the captains, senior leaders Tyler Zeigler and Brody Eckert are expected to make a big impact this season. Their experience gives the team stability and helps keep the group focused as they work through the challenges of replacing key contributors from last year’s team.
One of the biggest challenges the team faces this season is something most programs don’t have to deal with not having a true home field. The Tigers must travel to different locations to practice and play their games, which can make preparation and team routines more difficult. Despite this adversity, the players have embraced the situation and use it as motivation, knowing they must work harder and stay focused no matter where they play.
Head coach Bennet Metzger continues to lead the program with a focus on resilience, discipline, and teamwork. Metzger has emphasized that adversity can bring teams closer together, and this group has already shown a willingness to fight through challenges.
Although the road ahead will not be easy, the 2026 Moon lacrosse team believes their leadership, determination, and team chemistry can help them compete this season. After missing the playoffs last year and dealing with obstacles like losing starters and not having a home field, the Tigers are determined to stay positive, improve each game, and prove they can overcome any challenge thrown their way.
