Last season, the Tigers had the section championship ripped from them after a loss to West Allegheny in a close match. This year, the Moon Tigers are hungry to accomplish the goal of winning their section. They are currently 1-0 this season. The team is led by captions Cael Yanek, Michael Olszewski, Zach Regotti, Landon Lower, and head coach Mike Muraco. 

When asked what he does to prepare his team for a successful season, Coach Muraco said, “Every day working hard in the practice room and making sure that our practices are competitive.” 

He also said he has a few athletes he relies on the most during the season. He mentioned Cael Yanek (senior captain, committed to Mercyhurst), Liam Costa (junior), Bryce Thomas (junior), and Michael Olszewski (senior captain).  

Senior Captain Cael Yanek has been a starter for the past 3 years and has played a vital role in his team’s success. His personal goal this season is to be a WPIAL champ and state placer.  

He said that being a captain for this team, “means a lot because everybody on our team works very hard and for them to look up to me means a lot.” 

The Tigers take on West Allegheny again January 21, 2026, which will hopefully clutch the section championship for the Tigers for the first time in history.
