Starting the season of strong, the Moon Area Bowling team is a force to be reckoned with. Within the first half of their season, senior captain Hayden Miller says that the team is going strong with a record of 14-4. When asking about the men’s team versus the women’s team junior Anna Lindsey explained the physical differences between the two.
“Women have a physical disadvantage when bowling. Men can naturally lift heavier balls, and the heavier the ball, the more pins it can knock over and the more pins it can deflect. When women bowl, they need to consciously think to bowl straight because women’s arms naturally go outward while men’s go straight.”
There are some common goals amongst teammates. Both Reed Sharp and Connor Dietz want to bowl over a 200 before the end of their first season and continue that into the next one. Connor explained that he wants to get to where is dad is at in his bowling game.
“He can bowl above a 200 and I want to be able to get where he is!”
Connor gave some words for anyone wanting to play on the team or just play in general.
“It’s a fun family sport for anyone to try, and anyone can pick it up easy. It’s a fun sport and it’s surprising how much work it actually is once you try it.”
As the season continues hopefully the team can stay on their hot streak. Many players are advancing to the MAC Tournament at the end of this season. Good luck to the team and all the players advancing!
