Club Hope is in both the middle school and high school to help students grieving loved ones. There is an after-school program bi-weekly on Mondays at the middle school. At the high school, Club Hope is during club days once a month on Wednesdays. Students learn how to cope and let others learn to figure out strategies that help them.
The founder of Club Hope, Lisa Tolliver-Lehman, is a middle school teacher. She won an award from The PSEA which stands for the Pennsylvania State Education Association. She will be going to Philadelphia to present the award. She will give a speech to thank certain people and talk about what Club Hope means. There will be talk on how Club Hope has changed many lives as well as hers. The days it will happen is May 6th to the 7th.
The award shows how she was a community leader to help others. It provides a safe space for people to show their emotions and help others while dealing with a rough situation.
In addition to creating Club Hope, she also created a 5k to honor her late husband Michael Tolliver and mom, Mary Fowler. Mary and Mike’s Miles happens in early November for the community to come together to celebrate and exercise to make money. The 5k’s earnings goes to scholarship money to high school seniors in the Moon Community. To raise even more money there is a booth at the homecoming carnival game. They sell raffle tickets and baskets to make more money for kids that need scholarships.
Lisa wants to continue showing kindness and compassion to our school district and outside of it too! She will also continue to make a safe place for students who need it. She will be positive and earn this award of great respect.
