Pittsburgh is gearing up for an exciting spring of 2026, with a mix of major events, community projects, and new public spaces for everyone. Whether you’re interested in art, public celebrations, city improvements, or hands-on experiences, this year will be one to remember!
Skipping forward to barbecues and fireworks, one of the biggest highlights of 2026 will be America’s 250th anniversary celebration on July 4th. Recently, after completing major renovations, Point State Park is giving families more room to explore and relax. They are hosting a free concert on June 27th as part of the state’s celebrations, while America250PA expects crowds between 20,000 and 30,000 people. Pittsburgh plans to celebrate the historic milestone with citywide activities and special displays, offering fun ways to honor the nation’s founding.

Another exciting addition to downtown is Arts Landing, a new outdoor space in the Cultural District. Set to open in April, Arts Landing will include a great lawn, a new band shell, a children’s play area, walking paths, and public art installations from the Three Rivers Arts Festival.
Likewise, Market Square is being modernized with improved infrastructure and gathering spots, and this spring, a public plaza with a 917 square foot viewing screen will open across from PNC Park for fans to watch the live baseball games.

Pittsburgh has upgraded its welcome experience as the Heinz History Center recently opened a new Welcome Center to help people explore the city’s history, culture, and attractions. Enhancing the city’s appeal as a top destination, the Welcome Center is a free, first-floor hub for visitors, featuring interactive Pennsylvania maps, AI itinerary planners, selfie spots, and travel information to boost tourism for major events such as the 2026 NFL Draft.
From April 23rd to 25th, the 2026 NFL Draft is coming to Pittsburgh. Centered around the North Shore from Acrisure Stadium to Point State Park, a free fan festival, the NFL Draft Experience, is expected to generate $120-$160 million in economic activity. This event includes a multi-day experience of exhibits, interactive activities, and the annual player selection.
Between May 2nd and January 3rd, 2027, the 59th iteration of Carnegie International returns to Pittsburgh presenting a major international contemporary art exhibition every fourth year. The Carnegie Museum of Art has announced a list of almost 50 participating artists, featuring Torkwase Dyson, an interdisciplinary artist based in Beacon, New York, known for her ecology, infrastructure and architecture pieces.
With all these events and improvements, Pittsburgh will be full of discovery, celebration, and new opportunities in 2026. Pittsburgh will be a more accessible and vibrant city where both visitors and locals can easily get outside, explore, and take part in a wide range of activities.
