A fun mix of games, recognition, and prizes show the core values of Moon Area High School. On October 31st, the high school held its first ever R.O.A.R. assembly, and based on the events, hopefully not the last!
The R.O.A.R. initiative was introduced towards the end of the 2024-2025 school year to implement new standards for high school students. R.O.A.R stands for: Respect, ownership, acceptance, and resilience. The assembly shouted out four students that uphold these values during and outside of school.
It would not be a Moon assembly if there were not games and competition hosted by English teacher, Mrs. Ricciardi. After arriving late for the Homecoming Assembly, Hungry Hungry Hippos kicked it off. Four students went head-to-head to see who could collect the most balls before the time ran out.

After the first round of hippos, Deal or No Deal followed. Twelve boxes of varying sizes were presented to four students. Each student picked a mystery box and could choose if they wanted to keep or try again. Gifts ranged from free tickets to the musical, a double hotdog meal from Sheetz, and even Mr. Mangan.

The last game was the Pizza Box game. A group of students and teachers were each given an empty pizza box and held it with one hand. Once the parameters were set, each player tried to hit the other boxes down, the last one standing won.

A new introduction to the R.O.A.R initiative is students being able to nominate teachers. Several teachers were highlighted by students for a kind and welcoming classroom, extra help when needed, and all the love that they bring to the school.
Finally, the students that participated in Ghoul Day were mentioned and asked to stand. Many students stood dressed head-to-toe in their best Halloween costumes!

Between fun games, student appreciation, and festive costumes, the first R.O.A.R. Assembly was a major success and hopefully it is not the last!
