Mary and Mike’s Miles is a yearly 5k race that happens in early November. This year the race is set on Saturday November 1st, 2025. The 5k race is also a Nonprofit 501(C3) organization with all proceeds benefitting two scholarships for Moon Area High School seniors. Those two scholarships are geared towards the vocational training as well higher education.  

The proceeds are not only from the race but a couple of other events, as well. The yearly homecoming parade and carnival gets additional donations and raffle baskets that are donated from businesses and people around the area. Mary and Mike’s Miles had an assortment of raffle baskets this year. The two big raffle baskets this year are two Sabrina Carpenter tickets and a free smoothie every day for a year from tropical smoothie. The Tropical Smoothie basket is still having tickets being sold up until the race. But the two Sabrina Carpenter tickets will be pulled on Saturday October 11th, 2025. Tropical Smoothie tickets will be pulled at the race as well as more assortment of baskets. 

The 5k also gets many sponsors! Some of the big sponsors are Globe Airport Parking, Jeni Drass Real estate, RE/MAX Select Realty, DeSantis Property Management, Hyundai Moon Township Hyundai Mazda, Mazda Dealership, and there is also an anonymous donor. 

For last year’s scholarships, Mary and Mike’s Miles raised ten thousand dollars and split it between three outstanding applicants. The three seniors that won last year were Jacob Haas, Morgan Tinlin, and Layla Stevenson.
