Coming to the Moon Area Highschool Auditorium on October 15th at 7:00 p.m. is the United States Air Force Band of Washington D.C. The United States Air Force Band is full of 6 different preforming groups including: the Concert Band, the Singing Sergeants, Airmen of Note, Air Force Strings, Ceremonial Brass, and the Max Impact. These groups are some of the most successful musical organizations in the world. They represent honor and talent throughout the nation while being the nation’s biggest goodwill ambassador.
The United States Air Force band began as the nation was about to enter the Second World War. It started out as just one of the 59 “Air Force bands” and flourished into something truly Immaculate. As the band was beginning around 1500 musicians were recruited to join the band’s immense talent. As they quickly flourished, they became designated as “The Official Band of the Army Air Forces.” The band became one of the finest in the world as they combined with the singing sergeants allowing them to Attract a larger audience. The band as it travels throughout the nation is one of the most effective goodwill ambassadors. Their performances often support public events that highlight organizations like Goodwill and other community programs. The concert tours cover 48 countries, 40 world capitals, and five continents as they travel, they spread the American spirit throughout the world. The ban is very popular with an audience of over 60 million people they’ve made appearances on television, Internet broadcasts, and innovative videos. Overall, standing as a symbol of pride, unity, and goodwill, using the power of music to represent the nation and inspire people around the world.
However, this band would be nothing without Colonel Donald Schofield, the Commander and conductor of the United States Air Force band. He not only manages the musicians and their training but also guides them during performances across the country and around the world. As the band’s musical director, he shapes each performance to reflect the spirit and pride of the Air Force, inspiring both the musicians and the audiences who hear them. Before he became the commander, he was stationed overseas in an air base in Germany where he directed missions across Europe and Africa. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, is a highly accomplished musician and leader in the U.S. Air Force. He earned degrees in music from the University of Georgia, Louisiana State University, and Boston University. Before joining the Air Force in 1997, he spent six years as a public-school band director He performed with famous artists and earned recognition as a finalist for an Emmy Award. Colonel Schofield has also received numerous Air Force honors for his leadership, including awards for Public Affairs Excellence and musical achievement.

Air Force Strings are known for their most elegant and versatile performances while often preforming in ceremonies and special events. Max Impact is the Air Force’s rock band, the specialize in popular music that connects with modern day audiences. Finally, the last piece of the puzzle is the Ceremonial Brass this ensemble provides the traditional and powerful music for military ceremonies, parade, and official functions.
