For the first time ever at Moon Area High School, a door decorating contest was held throughout the month of December, bringing holiday spirit to the halls and creating excitement for both students and teachers. The contest was organized by the student run club R.O.A.R and the high school’s PBIS team, who worked together to make the event fun and memorable. Their goal was to spread cheer during the busy school season and give everyone something festive to look forward to.
Classroom doors across the building were transformed into colorful holiday displays. Some featured handmade wreaths, Santa Claus hanging out of a chimney, or creative winter scenes filled with snow, lights, and decorations. Every door had its own unique theme, showing the creativity and effort put in by teachers and students.
Since the beginning of December, teachers had been decorating their doors with hopes of winning the title of best door. Many spent lots of time planning their designs and adding small details to make their displays stand out. Students often stopped to admire the doors and talk about their favorites with friends. The contest quickly became a fun topic of conversation throughout the school.
The prize for the best decorated door was a generous Chick-fil-A breakfast, which motivated teachers even more to participate. It was no surprise that Mrs. Pope, a Spanish teacher, took first place. Her door featured a full-size gingerbread house that was filled with bright colors, candy designs, and tiny gingerbread people. Many students were impressed by how much effort she put into her display.
Mrs. Pope’s door stood out not just because of how large it was, but because of how creative and cheerful it looked. The gingerbread house gave off a warm holiday feeling and brought smiles to everyone who walked past it. It became one of the most talked about doors in the school and was a perfect example of the fun spirit the contest was meant to create.
The door decorating contest was a great way to spread holiday cheer throughout Moon Area High School. It gave students something exciting to look forward to during the winter season and helped make the school feel more festive. The colorful designs brightened the hallways and made passing time between classes more enjoyable. Many students said they loved seeing how creative their teachers were and hoped the contest would return next year.
The event showed how small activities like decorating doors can bring people together and make school feel more welcoming. Thanks to R.O.A.R and the PBIS team, Moon Area High School experienced a fun and cheerful December that students and staff will remember for a long time.
