Moon Area Highschool’s junior golfer Olivia DeGori has had a remarkably successful year, leading the Moon girls’ golf team to an amazing season. Under her leadership as the 2-year captain of the team, the team advanced to the WPIAL playoffs and became section champions, marking a major accomplishment for both Olivia and her teammates.
Olivia also stood out as the only player from Moon to qualify for the induvial state championship, a distinction that showcases her dedication, skill, and consistency throughout the season, which is a huge accomplishment. The state competition took place on October 20th and 21st and it was at Penn State Blue Course, where some of the best high school golfers in Pennsylvania competed. She describes her experience at states and says, “I enjoyed playing with my friends and I was glad to be given this amazing opportunity.” Her positive attitude and sportsmanship reflect the type of leader she has become off and on the course.
As her junior golf season coming to a close, she is already looking ahead with excitement to her senior year, where she hopes to finish her already successful school golf career on an even higher note. She has been a very successful golfer all her years in highschooler so far, building a reputation as one of Moon’s most reliable and talented golfers. Throughout her time at Moon, she has a very impressive list of achievements like winning the MAC tournament as a freshman and sophomore, qualifying for team WPIAL freshman through junior year, and qualifying for states sophomore and junior year.
Her success is not only a reflection of her natural ability but also shows the dedication and hour of practice she puts in to achieve her goals. She represents a great example of what can be achieved through teamwork and passion for the sport.
It’s safe to say that she has had an unbelievable high school golf career so far and everyone at Moon Area High School is excited about what she can do next year. With her talent, drive, and leadership, the future of the Moon girls’ golf team looks very bright.
