With Halloween right around the corner, many are preparing to celebrate the sweetest holiday of the year. Our Moonbeams team conducted a survey on Instagram to find out which treats students like the most. The results? Equal parts surprising and delicious.
Unsurprisingly, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups took the top spot, earning nearly a third of all votes. Closely following were Twix and Sour Patch Kids, proving that whatever you prefer, Moon students take their candy seriously.
Classic favorites like Skittles, Butterfingers, and gummy worms also got votes, but some niche picks made strong showings. A few voters went for Almond Joys, an old classic, while others swore allegiance to Take Five’s or York Peppermint Patties. One student even wrote in lollipops, showing that Halloween candy loyalty runs deep.
Interestingly, opinions varied by grade level. Freshmen leaned toward fruity, chewy candies like Skittles and gummies, while upperclassmen overwhelmingly preferred chocolate-based treats. “Chocolate just feels more Halloween-y,” said senior Maria Abdelsayed.
But beyond personal favorites, most students agreed on one thing: trick-or-treating may fade, but the love of Halloween candy never does. Even if you don’t go out anymore, there’s something nostalgic about buying a bag of your favorite candy. It’s like a piece of your childhood that never really goes away.
At the end of the day, Halloween is less about the candy itself and more about the memories it brings: dumping out a pillowcase full of treats, trading with friends, and maybe sneaking an extra piece (or five). No matter your favorite, one thing’s for sure: Moon High School students are ready to indulge their sweet side this spooky season.
