Our 2025 homecoming dance is quickly approaching! Taking place on September 20th, our homecoming is on the earlier side this year. We are aiming for it to take place on the football field, but if the weather interferes it will be in the gym. Homecoming prep is no joke. Students must get their outfits, make appointments, and coordinate plans weeks in advance. Another fun homecoming tradition is hoco-proposals. Traditionally, dates will ask each other to homecoming with a decorated sign. They often have some kind of pun on them, along with some flowers or treats.
Additionally, you cannot write about homecoming without mentioning the homecoming queen. During the second week of school, students voted on six girls that they thought would fit the role. After votes were counted, the girls elected were Danica Bacu, Alexandra D’alesio, Aubrey Marasco, Norah McSwigan, Kylie Tutino, and Brooke Zieger. The court will participate in homecoming festivities along with their chosen escorts. The homecoming queen should encapsulate characteristics like service, leadership, kindness, and academic integrity. Students will vote on who they think should be queen during homecoming week and the girl with the most votes will later be crowned at the homecoming football game. After talking with some members of the court, I realized how much effort truly goes into a responsibility like this. To spectators, it’s all sparkly sashes and heels. Although in order to make things pretty on the outside, a lot of work has to go in behind the scenes. Nominees have only 2 weeks notice to find a dress (separate from their dress for the dance), choose an escort, get décor for their golf cart, and coordinate any other plans they might have.
Another crucial part of homecoming season is spirit week. This year our spirit week will take place from September 15-19. The themes are as follows: Monday- Jersey Day, Tuesday- Country (Freshmen/Juniors) vs. Country Club (Sophomores/Seniors), Wednesday- White Lies, Thursday- Decades (Freshmen – 70s; Sophomores- 90s; Juniors- 2000s; Seniors- 80s), and Friday- Extreme Red and White. School spirit week is something many schools take part in to foster school pride and unity. It is an enjoyable and easy way for students to join an activity, despite their differences.

Our homecoming football game will take place on Friday, September 19th. The theme is red and white. The Moon Tigers will play Seneca Valley with kickoff at 7. We encourage everyone to come and show their tiger pride so we can cheer on our tigers to a win. Go all out on the theme, we want to see your red and white! Let’s have a great homecoming season, Tigers!
