The Moon Area High School coffee shop is getting ready for the 2025-2026 school year. Friday September 5th, the shop opened for the first time this school year, but only teachers could purchase drinks. The coffee shop first opened during the summer, running for limited hours during weekdays. Now that the school year is here, the shop is now a class run by Mrs. Wilson.
Before opening, the class underwent extensive training, allowing the students to perfect their skills. The training paid off for the students as they could handle the workload of both in-person and online orders. Despite being teachers only, it was a busy opening day in which they served many tired teachers who would soon enjoy their morning coffee. However, not all teachers and staff drink great coffees as Principal Misko made his first order of the school year, which was a large strawberry and banana smoothie.
You may think the shop sells your traditional coffee, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The shop sells a variety of coffee, frozen drinks, smoothies, tea, and other drinks like hot chocolate.
The cafe students have teamed up with life skills students to help make this beneficial for all involved. To make this possible, the high school partnered with Coffee Tree, where we are supplied the coffee products. This is a new thing that has happened to Moon area and is a significant step in the right direction for student involvement.
Ordering though is now easier than ever for teachers and perhaps students as there is now an online site to buy. This will allow teachers to order their morning drinks with ease and even have the drinks brought right to their rooms. The site also allows users to sign up, saving all your payment information, making ordering even that extra few seconds quicker.
You may be wondering about what customizable options you may have. Through the shop and online you can customize almost anything. Some options include syrups, sauces, hot, iced, types of milk, whipped cream, foam, the possibilities are endless. The shop may charge extra for modifications however exact pricing isn’t available at this time.
The current pricing for sizes goes from $3, $4, $5 going from small to medium to large. The pricing is subject to change however the main goal of the shop is to provide affordable drinks for all to enjoy.
The coffee shop is one of moon’s best secrets and the hope is eventually everyone will be able to experience it. In the end it is all for a good cause with all of the proceeds going back into the school and helping fund the life skills students.
