Jfk, 35th president of the United States of America was the last president to be assassinated (1963). Before he became president, he was a WWII vet for the Air Force. After the war he was a congressman and senator for 7 years 1946-1953 and 1953-1960 from Massachusetts. He tried to go for the presidency after Eisenhower’s first term in office, he was offered the vice presidency, but he turned it down and Nixon became the vice president. During second 4 years of Eisenhower’s term, he used that time to build up to the 60s election. By launching his own campaign from 1956-1960 to get votes ahead to get more people on his side. He ran against Nixon who with LBJ as his vice to get the Texas vote in the race. During that time JFK got MLK out of jail which got more people to vote for him in the 1960 election. He was the first catholic president and youngest at that time. He was president during the height of the cold war with the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis as well. He tried to avoid war with Vietnam. He did bus laws for schools, civil rights bills that he had ready to go before his died and he was going for women’s rights as well. He was assassinated in 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, TX. To this day people think the government played a role in his death. Files are still being put out on his death and people now think there was a seconded killer. People’s big reason is how JFK was hit and how the government didn’t like that he didn’t want to go to war with Vietnam and was more peaceful than Eisenhower. Jfk is still impacting people years later from his speeches and bills he put out.
