This school year, over a dozen student-athletes from Moon Area High School have committed to continue their academic and athletic career at colleges and universities, representing a wide variety of sports. The dedication and discipline these student athletes have given to their sport has provided them with exciting opportunities.
Two of these athletes are Moon Lady Tiger Soccer players, Lauren Muhanna and Lilli Snyder. Lauren and Lilli have been dedicated soccer players for most of their lives and have worked hard to reach their goals. Lauren admitted that it was not an easy road for her to college soccer. She started her search late as she was sidelined with an injury, but that she was looking forward to representing Grove City College and was “excited to keep playing the sport that I love with amazing people.” Lilli echoed Lauren’s excitement as she moves forward with her college career and noted that she was excited “to be on a team with new people and build friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime.”
While both Lauren and Lilli will be working hard to improve their soccer skills at a whole new level of play and earn their spots on the field, their hard work will not just be on the pitch. Lauren plans to major in Exercise Science and minor in Special Education with the goal of owning her own physical therapy practice that focuses on helping individuals with special needs. Lilli’s ultimate goal would be to graduate with a master’s degree in sports management.
Lilli and Lauren both shared helpful advice to underclassmen hoping to follow in their footsteps. Lilli emphasized the importance of balancing academics and athletics. She also stated, “don’t be afraid to put yourself out there for college coaches to see you, even at a young age.” Lauren advised to trust in the process and to “choose the school where you feel most at home.” Such great advice from two outstanding student athletes that I was lucky enough to learn from both on and off the field over the past two years! Wishing all of Moon Area’s senior student athletes all the best in this next chapter of their careers.
