PictureMoon High School performed Legally Blonde: The Musical March 13th-17th, which was an impressive production that combined stellar vocals, special effects, and comedy. The play starred Finley Egal as Elle Woods, with Jack Turner playing Professor Callahan and Tyler Coy playing Emmett. The production also featured a stellar supporting cast, with Stat Coley putting on an impressive Jennifer Coolidge impression.
Along with the comedy and acting, Moon’s Legally Blonde featured a wide array of costumes, with Elle wearing her classic pink. A highlight of the outfits was Elle’s pink velvet tracksuit, bringing everyone back to 2001. The sorority sisters also wore classic colorful 2000s fashions, adding to the nostalgia of the play.
There were multiple impressive sets, including a nearly perfect replica of the iconic hair salon and a perfectly pink copy of Elle’s dorm room. The audience felt immersed in the competitive Harvard environment and had courtside seats to the infamous Brooke Taylor trial. This feeling was enhanced with the addition of surrounding LED lights reflecting the mood of each act.
Multiple cast members commented on opening night, which seems to have been a hit.
Pratham Singh, who played Warner, commented that the group had “very good energy” on opening night. His favorite scene was when he “got to break up with Elle” (don’t worry Elle fans, she got back at him.)
Gia Carlise, who played Enid Hoops, enjoyed the dancing aspect of the play, and her favorite part was the Remix scene, which was “super fun and empowering.”
Finally, senior Jack Turner, who played Professor Callahan, reflected on his last show. Jack remarked that although there were some “hiccups with the sound”, the cast had “very good energy.” He enjoyed the graduation scene, which was the perfect ending to a memorable show.
We would like to give some shoutouts to Jack Turner as Professor Callahan for amazing acting and vocals, Kyla Coley as Paulette Buonafonte for amazing vocals and radiant energy, and Lance Corcoran as Kyla for hilarious energy and acting.
Congratulations to everyone involved in Legally Blonde for an incredible performance, and definitely one to be remembered. Be sure to get your tickets and don’t miss next year’s plays and musicals!
