In March 2025, a new Hunger Games novel, “Sunrise on the Reaping,” will be released by Suzanne Collins, exploring the world of Panem 24 years before the first book, and starring a young Haymitch. A film adaptation is also planned for November 2026.

The story is set 24 years before the events of the first Hunger Games novel.
Characters:
The story focuses on the 50th annual Hunger Games (also known as the Second Quarter Quell), and the reaping that takes place on the morning of the games, where a young Haymitch Abernathy participates.
Film Adaptation:
Lionsgate announced the movie will be released on November 20, 2026.
Directed by:
Francis Lawrence is in talks to direct the film, who has directed every Hunger Games movie since the first one.
