The Moon Area Swim Team celebrated their Senior Night in style, securing a victory over Butler in a meet filled with excitement and emotion. The event honored the team’s senior swimmers, recognizing their dedication and contributions throughout their high school careers. Senior Ellie Patterson reflected on her time with the team, offering advice to incoming freshmen, “Don’t be afraid to give it your all.” She also shared her favorite memory from being on the team, saying, “Being with all of my teammates, and I also love the team bonding activities we do, like bowling.” Senior Troy Hickman answered similarly, encouraging younger swimmers to push themselves. “Never give up and push yourself to become better,” he advised. When asked about his favorite memories, he highlighted the atmosphere within the team, “The fun times at practices and meets with my teammates.” Senior Night was not just about celebrating accomplishments but also about cherishing the bonds built over the years. As the seniors prepare to move on, they leave behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and teamwork that will inspire the next generation of Moon Area swimmers.
The season has been strong for both the boys’ and girls’ teams. The girls hold a record of 7-3, while the boys have posted an impressive 8-2. In section competition, the girls went 3-3, while the boys finished 4-2. With these records, Moon’s swimmers have demonstrated their resilience and competitive spirit throughout the season. The teams WPIAL championships are quickly approaching, they will be held on February 27th and 28th, and Moon has 10 qualifiers.
