Even without a “sugar-boo thang” (Kyle Burgess), the Valentine’s Day season can be fun for everyone. Whether with your gals or pals, there are plenty of activities to do with friends in February.
The weekend of February 14th can be a great time to throw a party, giving a much needed break from the dismal cold of winter. Arts and crafts are popular activities to do at these parties, making all things fun and frilly. One exciting thing to do is painting tote bags. Good quality tote bags can be found for inexpensive prices at Michael’s or any Dollar Tree, along with paints. If you are looking for an excursion activity, look for a local pottery studio to take friends. Painting pottery can be both relaxing and rewarding, as it includes a fun bowl or cup to bring home.
As for food, it can be quick and creative to host a board night, in which each person brings a board of homemade or restaurant foods. Boards can range from the classic charcuterie board, with fancy cheeses and grapes, to comfort fast food like Chick fil a nuggets and fries.
In addition to the arts and crafts, a Galentine’s night can be the perfect time to catch up on some rom-com classics. Some of the best include How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days and Ten Things I Hate About You. Scary movies are also an option, to protest the extravagant, often cheesy nature of Valentine’s Day. Scream is a fan favorite, the perfect amount of gory and thrilling.
No matter how you choose to celebrate, Galentine’s is the perfect time to bond with friends. Cuddling up in fun pajamas and eating indulgent food is the perfect cure for seasonal loneliness. So, gather your gals, bring your boards, and have a happy Galentine’s Day!
