Superbowl 59 was a highly anticipated rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. This Superbowl was a rematch of Super Bowl 57, and in that game the Chiefs ended up winning. However, the Eagles got their revenge as they defeated the Chiefs 40-22. There was a lot of pressure on Kansas City this game as they had the potential to win three super bowls in a row for the 1st time in NFL history. Patrick Mahomes had a tough performance against the Eagles in Super Bowl 59, as the Chiefs quarterback was flustered by Philadelphia’s defense throughout the game. While there was no sign that Mahomes was playing injured, some fans are wondering if he was dealing with a concussion suffered early in the game. Mahomes hit his head against the turf in the first quarter after being tripped up by an Eagles defense. After the play, Mahomes didn’t appear to be checked for a concussion on the sidelines despite the violent collision with the ground. On social media, neuroscientist and founder of the Concussion Legacy Foundation Chris Nowinski commented on the hit, saying he didn’t believe that play led to a concussion. According to Nowinski, Mahomes didn’t show signs of a head injury throughout the game. So, there is really no excuse as to why the Chiefs played the way they did. As for the eagles, they played this game as perfect as you could. Both offense and defense were stout in that game for them. They forced 2 interceptions this game, the first one came from rookie defensive back Cooper Dejean. Dejean’s birthday was on the day that he was playing in the Superbowl, and he was able to get a nice birthday present for himself as he not only intercepted the ball, but he also was able to get a pick six. The next one was from linebacker Zach Baun who was playing incredible all season. This was an overall well rounded effort by this eagles team to get their revenge on the chiefs and get their second Super Bowl in the last 10 years.
