Moon Area High School’s boys’ varsity basketball team put on a spectacular show on Senior Night, overwhelming West Allegheny 56-28 in front of a packed home crowd. The Tigers set the tone early, jumping out to a commanding lead in the first quarter and never looking back.
The game started with a dominant 17-1 first-quarter performance by Moon, fueled by relentless defense and efficient shooting. By halftime, the Tigers held a comfortable 34-9 advantage. Although West Allegheny fought back in the third quarter, scoring 14 points, Moon quickly regained momentum in the fourth to close out the night in style.
Leading the charge was Carter Tumulty, who delivered a stellar performance with 28 points. His exceptional shooting and ability to control the game played a huge role in Moon’s victory. Amir Turner also had an impressive night, scoring 10 points and showcasing his skills in his playing first season at Moon. Turner also gave a show to the crowd with a pass up the floor from Micheal Santicola leading into a powerful slam dunk from Turner.
West Allegheny’s Ty Blatz led his team with 12 points, but the visitors struggled to keep up with Moon’s offensive firepower and defensive pressure.
The night was extra special as Moon Area High School honored its seniors, including standout players Michael Santicola, Amir Turner, and Carter Tumulty.
Micheal Santicola, who has been an integral part of the program, will continue his basketball journey as a shark at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). His dedication and leadership have been invaluable to the team, and the crowd erupted in cheers as he was recognized for his contributions.
Amir Turner’s first season with Moon has been nothing short of excellent, and his impact on the court was evident throughout the game. His presence has added a new dynamic to the team, and fans are excited about what he brings to the program.
Of course, Carter Tumulty’s incredible performance further cemented his legacy at Moon. His ability to deliver in big moments has been a cornerstone of the team’s success, and his shooting display on Senior Night was the perfect way to cap off his time with the Tigers.
