Homecoming Do’s and Dont’s

Homecoming can be super fun for people in all grades, but it can also be intimidating for those who haven’t gone before. For that reason, here is a list of what to do (and not do) surrounding the dance.

DO dress in what makes you comfortable. Recommended dress is semi-formal, which is anything from dresses to pantsuits to shirts with ties. However, it’s made to be a fun, carefree event, so come dressed in whatever puts you in a dancing mood.

DON’T forget to vote for your homecoming court. This will be available on everyone’s class teams page once the seniors vote for the court. It’s an interactive way to be involved in the dance and cheer on your senior class.

DO take lots of photos with all your friends. It can be easy to get caught up in the moment, but picture taking lets you relive the night over and over. High school can have some of your best memories, and you’ll want the photos to look back on.

DON’T wear high heels on the field/in the gym. No matter where the dance is this year, no one wants to be in heels all night. They are super cute and encouraged for picture taking, but you’ll be thankful to wear tennis shoes when the night is over.

DO remember to have some form of your student ID. Every student has one, and it can be accessed in Skyward. You’ll need this for entry into the dance, and it helps with lines if you have it pulled up before you get to the desk.

DON’T forget to pay your fees in Skyward. It’s important to get this done in advance of the dance, because it’s required to buy a ticket. Fees can include laptop maintenance, parking passes, lunch fees, and more. These can be paid right in the app, so there’s no need to procrastinate!

Finally, and most importantly, DO remember to have fun. The whole purpose of the dance is to dance and make memories with your friends. High school only comes around once, and it can fly by, so make the most of it!
