The NFL continues to try and expand out into other countries by having more games in outside of the U.S. The first game outside of the U.S. this season was Week 1 on Friday Sep. 6th. The Eagles took on the Packers in Sao Paula, Brazil in Corinthians Stadium. It was an entertaining game as the Eagles won 34-29. This game was significant because not only was it Saquan Barkley’s first game as an Eagle, but it was also the first game ever held in Brazil. Barkley had 2 touchdowns in his debut as he helped the eagles get the win. The next game is one of the three London games this season. On Oct. 6th The Vikings helped fight their way to a 23-17 win against the Jets. Former Defensive Player of the Year winner Stephon Gilmore had the game winning interception. The Vikings continue their undefeated season as they move to 5-0 on the year. Then, the Chicago Bears took on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 13th. The Jaguars struggles continue after the Bears take the win 35-16. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams broke out in this game with 4 touchdowns for the windy city. On the other side of the ball, the Jaguars mediocre season continues as they move to 1-5. There is a lot of people to blame for the Jags unsuccessful start. Trevor Lawrence hasn’t played up to what has been expected of him when he was drafted 1st overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Doug Pederson hasn’t been able to replicate the success he had in the 2017 season when he won the Superbowl with the eagles. Running back Travis Etienne is slowly starting to lose his job to his backup Tank Bigsby due to poor play. No one really has any answers as to why they are not successful as they should be. However, this London trip for Jacksonville is not over yet. The Jags took on the New England Patriots. Not much hype is around this game as these are two teams that haven’t really shocked anyone. The only storyline around this game is it will be the second start for Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye. Now that the London games are wrapped up. The last game is in Munich, Germany where the New Yok Giants will take on the Carolina Panthers. Once again, not the most entertaining game to have, but Giants rookie Wide Receiver Malik Nabers could put up and nice stat line in the game. The NFL continues to try and make more fans of the game outside of the U.S. hopefully they continue to expand.
