The Moon Lady Tigers Soccer team has a long history of being a successful program. The 2025 season is no different, and MLTS is already off to a fantastic start. So far this season, the girls have an overall record of 5-1-0. The program has consistently competed at the highest levels of PA high school soccer, acquiring multiple WPIAL and PIAA championships. A key factor that plays a huge role in the team’s success is the girls’ relationships with one another. Senior captain, Anna Palm, agrees with this, stating that, “our team’s greatest strength right now is our chemistry. All the girls are super close and friendly, and it really shows on the field.” Another key point that contributes to the achievements of the team is their coach, Bill Pfeiffer. He has been coaching soccer for over 25 years, recently winning his 400th game at Moon Area with a 9-0 win over Bethel Park. He brings many years of coaching knowledge and experience, helping the team adjust to other opponents’ techniques. He stresses the importance of accountability and effort/competitiveness, making sure every player understands their role in the team’s success.
With all their hard work also comes many fun memories. After being asked what their favorite game or moment was this season, senior captain, Alexandra D’Alesio responded that it was “beating West A 3-0 after losing to them last year.” Anna also agreed, saying it was “definitely” her favorite moment of the season.
Some of their recent games have shown that all the hard work they put into soccer has certainly paid off. Notably, the win against West Allegheny on Monday proved the team is focused on having another successful year. With high pressure games like West Allegheny, every player has a unique way of preparing for the match. Anna stated that during big games she relies on blocking out background noise, focusing on the moment and reassuring herself that this game is something she has been doing her whole life. Similarly, during intense games Alexandra relies on a positive attitude and patience. She notes that “if we stay patient, a goal will eventually come.”
MLTS is successful for so many reasons. The coaches and players have built a strong foundation for success that is passed down year by year. The lessons the players learn through teamwork and commitment follow them long after their days on the field and help build a foundation for a successful life beyond soccer.
